I have heard local anglers on the river saying that the salmon (chinook) are not biting because the water is too cold. I would think that as with steelhead, water temp. does make a difference in salmon fishing. If this is the case what does the water temp. need to be before the salmon become aggressive enough to bite. Can you get the salmon to bite when the water temp is colder than they like using the right gear? I have heard that salmon are a lot more finicky than steelhead and am wondering what part water temp plays in this and how to combat it.

Thanks a bunch.
